The band was called Selena Y Los Dino and Selena would be performing with her siblings at different wedding fairs, bars, restaurants and many other places. Selena Y Los Dino was a very demanding band for Selena & her siblings. In the end, they didn't have a lot of a chance to mature. Abraham senior was also a musician in the band that was originally known as Los Dinos. Selena Y Los Dinos were official founded in 1981. It was a family business and the main source of income for the Quintanilla family. Quintanillas persevered in spite of the beginning financial challenges to be an established band. Their patience would eventually pay dividends in the 1980's when Selena Y Los Dinos gained popularity in the west states. Selena's first breakthrough came in 1986 when she won the distinction of Female Vocalist Of the Year and as a Performer of the Year at Tejano music awards. Selena Y Los Dinos grew in fame and popularity immediately afterward. There were many Spanish programming, such as El Show De Johnny Canales siempre en Domingo (Saturday Night Gigante) and El Show De Johnny Canales every Sunday, were in the spotlight.
