ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. Morgan was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan enjoyed many sports as a child, but only started to play soccer when she was 14 years old. Morgan was a member of the Cypress Elite club team and won the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. In addition, she placed third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued to develop her skills in soccer in Diamond Bar High School. National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), selected her as an All-American Athlete. She also played in the Olympic Development Division's regional and state divisions. Morgan furthered her soccer career at UC Berkeley, where she led the California Golden Bears team in scoring from her very first season. She was instrumental in bringing the team to the NCAA Tournament every year and twice into the second round. Morgan was one of the four finalists for the Honda Sports Award. She also became the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. When she graduated earlier in the year, Morgan was ranked third in the history of goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan played soccer at the collegiate and national level throughout her college. The first time she was on the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury that prevented her from training with the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April. She scored her debut international goal in Mexico at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also part of the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup where she scored four goals and receiving the gold medal, in addition to other accolades.Morgan was then recruited by the senior national team where she was substituted, and scored a number of important goals. One of these was a victory goal over Italy that secured the U.S. team a final spot at the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player on the team , and he was instrumental in leading it to victory against France. Although the U.S. ultimately lost to Japan, Morgan became the first player in history to score a goal and an assist during a final World Cup game.
